Note to ParentsFamily Health, Wellness & Nutrition
However, once I became a parent, I realized there's more to it than just theory and I ran into obstacles -- probably you have too. Parenting is hard work on every level, and I had multiple opportunities to see that my college theories didn't prepare me for sick children in the middle of the night or for emotional outbursts.
I wanted to pen this note directly to parents because of the hope I'd like to bring to some of you. There are two things I'd like to address: One, dealing with the physical body and how it can be strengthened through nutrition and other ways and Two, the encouragement for you to keep pursuing your dream for a loving family, despite bumps and tumbles that may come. I'm so grateful for the friends and role models I had along the way.
If I can help you as you seek ways to parent your children, I
would consider it a joy and a privilege. Blessings to you as you
carry out this noble calling. What came first, the chicken or the egg? This question reminds me of our bodies. The more I've studied
the human body, the more I see how interconnected we are
physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, the "layers" of our
body. I've seen how people have paid attention to one or two areas
of their being, but neglected other
areas of themselves. Over the years, I've expanded my thinking to
consider all areas of the body and the possibility that they may
need attention, too. As a result, I've tweaked my approach in how to best help myself, my family members, my friends and
clients.
As this pertains to you as a parent, I'd like you to consider the possibility that there might be something other than prescription drugs that can help you or your child deal with issues in your life. Situations such as infertility, ADD, and weight loss are all good examples of how these health conditions could involved the physical, mental and emotional levels of your body, and a comprehensive program provides the most optimal way for you to address them. Nutrition may play a part, supplementation may help, but other areas should at least be considered. Let me give you an example....Let's say you know someone with mood swings. In my opinion,
these may affect and be affected by things such as brain chemistry, liver toxicity,
nutritional deficiencies, environmental toxins, and stored negative
emotions. Maturity level and coping skills can also play a part in
mood swings. Most of these cannot be measured by tests in a doctor's
office, but the effects of them can and are seen in homes and classrooms
across the country. If you wanted to help someone with their mood
swings, where would you start?
In a perfect world, it would be most effective if you knew which area the issue was in so you could just start there. At Bridge to Better Health, we do some things to help locate the source of health issues, and then we make recommendations to help balance them out. The recommendations are unique to each person. Sometimes we need to work on more than one "layer" in the body to get the job done. We've
seen firsthand that nutritional support isn't always the only answer. In
fact, we've found great success in adding other things in addition to
nutrition for balancing mood swings. But I can tell you that nutrition
is one place to start and is most often a part of the situation. If you
have tried nutritional programs in the past without feeling success,
maybe the root of your issue wasn't addressed, or another area of your
body needs to be considered.Another thing that often needs addressing is detoxification. In our world where it is hard to find pure water, air and food, we need to have safe ways to detoxify or symptoms do begin to appear. In detoxifying the body, we can relieve the toxic load and help free up energies within the body so it can carry out its functions the way it is designed. Whether the toxins come from heavy metals, chemicals, drug residuals, or some other source, safely removing them can dramatically bring a new sense of well-being. If none of this made sense to you, it probably doesn't pertain to you! However, you might be the one that needed this encouragement. Parents want to fill their children with the idea that they can do anything, yet sometimes the same parents find within themselves limiting thoughts or negative habits that provide the opposite example for their children. These thoughts and habits are hard to just walk away from, no matter how many times or how hard you try. We ask ourselves, "How can I encourage my children to reach their potential when I have limits myself? How can I model living my life with purpose if I have self-doubt and low self-esteem?" I'm excited about helping people experience freedom
and, like I said before, I have a special spot in my heart for parents
and children. If you know someone struggling with an issue in their home, I welcome the opportunity to speak with them.
